Hi All!
Here is your weekly round up of what I’m pondering and exploring. Feel free to forward along to a friend if you think they might enjoy.
Nurturing the pillars of self
We all understand that all the aspects of our well being inform each other. If your health is bad, your mind will probably also be struggling. Which is why it’s important to develop a holistic way of nurturing each pillar of the self.
Last night, I sketched a diagram and tried to note down what each of these pillars might be, and came to a new realisation. We are cyborgs. It sounds crazy, I know, but this is the reality of living in 2025. We each have a mobile phone and access the internet on a daily basis. If you lose your phone, it’s like your losing a piece of yourself. Which is why, I’ve decided to include technology inside the pillars that make up who we are.
So, in the same way you your treat your body by eating healthy, it’s crucial we develop healthy consumption habits with our technology use. However, it’s important that we’re mindful not only of one, but all of the pillars, because if one goes, they all go.
It’s important that each of these pillars of self are treated with equal importance. You could be jacked, and the best looking person in the room, but if your unable to express yourself, or you lack social connection, your entire wellbeing will suffer.
It’s not now or never, it’s always
One thing I’ve realised is that there’s always a chance. A chance to make more money, a chance to find love, a chance to get better, a chance to grow, the list goes on.
And look, I understand how easy it is to get sucked into the mass FOMO society creates, I’ve been there, and still travel there. It’s the reason why you see people on the internet trying to create artificial urgency to get you to buy into their pyramid schemes. This fear warps our perceptions of reality and makes us believe that their isn’t opportunity all around us.
If you wake up today think opportunity is inaccessible that’s what your going to get. Every no will compound your belief and you will become bitter with the world. Whereas, if you just say fuck it we ball, and embrace the world with open arms, open to any opportunity, your going to get access to an entirely new reality.
Take the long way
I love this—especially in todays day and age of same-day delivery.
How I’ve improved my sleep
I’m someone who has struggled with their sleep for the past few years, often waking up intermittently throughout the night, or even, not being able to fall asleep at all. In the past, before I’d goto sleep, I’d maybe lay on my bed, watch a movie, or just relax. My bed had become my nightly hangout spot, which is where the problem began.
I’ve realised, by using my bed not only as a place to rest, but a place to hang out, my body becomes confused and is unsure what it should be doing, when it is time to sleep. However, as soon as I started using my bed solely for sleeping, my body became more accustomed to knowing that when your in bed, it’s time to sleep.
Unsure if anyone else here deals with sleeping problems, and there are of course many factors that go into getting a good nights rest, but this might help.
The future of nightlife
I’ve noticed a trend with my peers that a lot of us have given up drinking, or at least tried to cut back on our consumption habits. This is great, and is one of the qualities Gen Z and Gen Alpha don’t get enough credit on. A lot of us are much more mindful of our health than our parents and grandparents were. We’ve been brought up seeing the consequences of what alcohol and drugs can do and are deciding to pave a new, healthier, and sustainable path.
Which brings me to nightlife and socialising. Currently as a young person there is only so many ways you can meet people, and most people think that’s only possible at a nightclub, or partying. However, there will be a new wave of nightlife establishments that will instead opt to create cozy spaces for people to simply hang out.
I think the post below, encapsulates what I think is coming, and I’m excited. Because why can’t we stay up to four a.m. playing board games if we want?
Feel free to give me feedback on Twitter. What did you like? What do you want more of? What do you want less of? Other suggestions? Please let me know. Just send a tweet to @JETLRWILLIAMS and put #JETSJOURNAL at the end so I can find it.
Hope everyone enjoys their week!
